Alyssa Farah Griffin told ABC The View viewers Tuesday that California Governor Gavin Newsom understands former Vice President Kamala Harris would surpass him in any 2028 presidential effort.
Whoopi Goldberg recounted Newsom’s pledge to skip the contest if Harris, the party’s 2024 nominee, enters again.
Griffin maintained that a candidate should run solely from conviction in distinctive contributions and let ideas compete, yet she read Newsom’s choice as rooted in Harris’s stronger public profile, their joint draw on California donors, and the Democratic calendar now opening in South Carolina, which would give Harris an early lift among Black voters. She noted Vance and Rubio have taken a matching wait-and-see posture.
