Exclusive — Tommy Pigott: We’ve Revoked over 100,000 Visas

Listen to Article

The Trump State Department’s decision to revoke more than 100,000 visas is more than a headline—it’s a deliberate recalibration of who is allowed to operate inside the United States, and the 2A community should pay close attention. By tightening the front door, the administration is shrinking the pool of foreign nationals who could later exploit lax permitting systems, sanctuary-city loopholes, or ATF Form 4473 oversights. In practical terms, every visa that never turns into a green card is one fewer potential prohibited person whose name might otherwise slip through NICS because of incomplete foreign records or jurisdictional gamesmanship.

Equally important is the signal this sends to domestic gatekeepers. When federal agencies treat immigration compliance as a genuine national-security function rather than a paperwork formality, it raises the political cost for states and cities that still refuse to honor ICE detainers or share mental-health adjudications with the FBI. The 2A grassroots have long argued that “universal background checks” are only as good as the data they contain; by clearing the rolls of individuals who should never have been here in the first place, the administration is indirectly strengthening the integrity of those checks without adding a single new restriction on law-abiding citizens.

For gun owners, the lesson is straightforward: immigration enforcement and Second Amendment enforcement are two sides of the same constitutional coin. A nation that cannot—or will not—control its borders inevitably struggles to control its criminal pipeline, and that pipeline eventually runs through gun stores, pawn shops, and private transfers. By reversing the flow at the consular level, the Trump team is buying future range days a little more peace of mind, one denied visa at a time.
