Exclusive: GOP Sen. Jim Banks Introduces Bill to Ban Sexualization of Children at School

Listen to Article

Sen. Jim Banks’ new legislation is a direct shot across the bow at the institutional capture of K-12 classrooms by gender ideology and explicit sexual content, and the 2A community should pay close attention. When schools normalize the idea that biological reality is optional and that parents can be sidelined, they are laying the groundwork for a generation that views government as the ultimate arbiter of truth and safety. That mindset is the same one that later claims only the state can be trusted with firearms; once children are taught their bodies are state property, their rights—including the right to keep and bear arms—become negotiable.

The bill’s timing is no accident. It arrives as multiple states report rising incidents of school shootings and behavioral crises that coincide with the rapid rollout of social-transition policies and curricula that treat sexual identity as the central organizing principle of childhood. Pro-2A families already shoulder the burden of defending their children from curricula that undermine parental authority; now they must also confront the downstream effects on school safety and the cultural erosion of individual responsibility. Banks’ measure forces a long-overdue debate: whether taxpayer-funded institutions exist to educate citizens capable of self-government or to produce compliant subjects who will later surrender their constitutional rights without question.

For gun owners, the stakes extend beyond curriculum fights. A population conditioned to accept that dissent equals harm is far more likely to support red-flag laws, magazine bans, and registration schemes sold as “protecting kids.” By pushing back on the sexualization of minors, Banks is also defending the cultural soil in which the Second Amendment grows—namely, a society that still believes parents, not bureaucrats, raise children and that individuals, not the collective, bear ultimate responsibility for their own defense.
