Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin told Breitbart News interviewer Matthew Boyle that the Biden administration set aside relatives of Americans slain by people in the country illegally. Officials gave those relatives no platform, he said, because the facts did not match the story they preferred to present.
Mullin said a White House program that let families follow investigations, inmates, and removals was closed under the prior administration and has been restored. He called sessions with the relatives the most difficult part of his work, noting he cannot return a child and can only offer regret because every death was fully preventable; the offender should never have entered the United States.
He added that fatherhood changed him so that he now weeps at any account involving children, unlike earlier years when he never cried.
