Dem Sen. Ossoff Attacks Trump, Says He ‘Doesn’t Want’ to Do His Job, Just Wants to Travel with Aide

Listen to Article

Sen. Jon Ossoff’s latest jab at President Trump—claiming the commander-in-chief would rather globe-trot with an aide than “do his job”—lands with the same thud as every other Beltway talking point that ignores the real work being done outside the D.C. bubble. While the Georgia Democrat frames travel as dereliction, the 2A community recognizes that many of those trips have included direct engagement with law-enforcement agencies, border-security briefings, and meetings with governors who are actively pushing constitutional-carry reforms. In other words, the very “distractions” Ossoff mocks often translate into policy momentum that protects the right to keep and bear arms at the state level.

More telling is the selective outrage: the same critics who once labeled Trump’s 2017–2021 travel schedule as excessive now stay silent when the current administration’s officials crisscross the country to promote expanded background-check mandates and assault-weapon restrictions. For gun owners, the takeaway is straightforward—rhetoric about “doing the job” is often code for advancing an anti-2A agenda, while actual job performance is measured in court appointments, executive orders that roll back Obama-era regulations, and consistent support for national reciprocity legislation. Ossoff’s sound bite may fire up his base, but it also reminds Second Amendment advocates why elections and appointments downstream from the Oval Office matter far more than photo-op attendance.
