Democratic Representative Lori Trahan of Massachusetts told Fox News Special Report on Tuesday that America can still beat China in the artificial intelligence contest under the rules she and Republican Representative Jay Obernolte of California support.

She dismissed claims that such rules would let China prevail, pointing to historical American leadership in setting standards for nuclear arms, biological and chemical weapons, and aviation. Trahan maintained that entering international talks without first completing that domestic effort would leave the United States disadvantaged. She added that rivalry and safeguards can proceed together and that other countries should regard American systems as the most reliable so they adopt similar approaches.
