On Thursday on CNN News Central, California Democrat Dave Min said Republicans raise diversity hiring, Abdul El-Sayed, and transgender topics to shift attention away from their record.

Kate Bolduan reported that JD Vance privately urged House Republicans facing milder Democratic opponents to focus on El-Sayed, who had met Senate Democrats on Capitol Hill the day before. After wrongly saying Min had campaigned with El-Sayed and then apologizing, she asked whether El-Sayed hurts Democrats in the midterms.

Min answered that Republicans ignore public anger over prices, scarce good jobs, housing, the Iran conflict, tariffs, and Trump family corruption discussed in a hearing this week. He said those cultural subjects do not come up in his district, noted a prior hearing on one transgender collegiate fencer in a coed sport, and added that voters reject the tactic.
