Georgia Democrat Everton Blair said Thursday on CNN that Democrats who will soon join Congress should work to overhaul and dismantle ICE. Host Elex Michaelson asked for Blair’s view of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s call to end the agency and how lawmakers might respond.
Blair backed the mayor after another tragedy in New York. He said ICE has lacked change for too long and that new members should use every power they have toward overhaul and elimination. Agencies meant to protect people should not wound or kill anyone, he added, and immigration policy still needs extensive repair rather than the current approach.
