Virginia Democratic Representative Don Beyer appeared Monday on a Bloomberg television program and called for restoring federal incentives for electric vehicles, solar power, and wind energy that he said President Trump had removed.

Beyer told co-host Joe Mathieu that high gasoline prices have increased demand for electric cars. A family auto dealership he no longer owns now sells every electric model it receives, and used electric vehicles also draw strong buyer interest. Drivers who adopt electric cars rarely return to gasoline engines.

He cited limited driving range as a remaining concern for rural residents, while noting that newer models travel farther on each charge.
