On Sunday on Meet the Press, Democratic Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey said Supreme Court members should hold office for 18 years so each president would choose two. He and other lawmakers have advanced the plan, which he said more than 70 percent of the public supports, and which he said can become law without amending the Constitution or increasing the number of seats.

He further stated that justices operate under thinner ethics rules than other officials and take gifts without limit from extremely wealthy people who have cases at the court. He urged the strictest ethics standards for them.
