CNBC cohost Sara Eisen told HBO Real Time viewers Friday that universities and poor teaching produce the view of Hamas as a freedom cause.
She described the third anniversary of October 7 as alerting many to a Western conflict. Bill Maher observed global marking of the date rather than victim remembrance and said some see Western failure as reason to back socialism, communism, and Hamas as liberators, a view he does not share.
Eisen blamed an occupier-focused outlook and said Israelis find it puzzling that they lead a Western fight yet lack backing from the United States and Western public opinion. Maher noted the gap is sharpest among liberals uncomfortable living in the Middle East outside Tel Aviv.
