On Friday CNN OutFront, New York Democratic House nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier said the man ICE shot in New York should not be deported even if gang links and earlier gun arrests prove true.

Erin Burnett cited DHS claims of those gang links, two prior gun and weapons arrests, and alleged ties to a probe of a Customs and Border Protection officer shooting, then asked whether a noncitizen with that record would be a proper removal target.

Chevalier answered that criminal courts should address such matters and that ICE should not then add deportation plus lasting family separation.
