Democratic House nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier told CNN on Friday that New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch should resign after Tisch described the criminal history of a man ICE shot instead of affirming the city’s sanctuary policy.

Host Erin Burnett noted that Mayor Mamdani stood with Tisch during the briefing, that Tisch has not blamed ICE or the NYPD, and that the mayor who backed Chevalier in the primary still supports Tisch.

Chevalier said she is voicing her district’s demand, felt appalled that Tisch skipped criticizing ICE or treating the incident as a sanctuary breach, and that Tisch portrayed neighbors poorly while implying any excuse existed for firing into a crowded street and a car carrying a five year old.
