Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said Monday that any natural gas shortages inside the United States would stem from states that halt pipeline construction, not from federal policy. He spoke on Fox Business Network Mornings while addressing possible supply pressure tied to overseas threats.

Burgum named New York as a state that has stopped pipelines, leaving Pennsylvania gas unable to reach New England homes. He said the federal government is pushing faster permitting so more production can come online and move worldwide, a theme of a current conference.

The co-host had raised the wide price gap with Europe, storage at a 15-year low, and questions about a cold winter.
