Bessent expressed uncertainty about reaching a broader agreement and noted China has fallen short on certain promised items, with officials hoping for better performance.

On farm products, China committed to 25 million tons of soybeans and has fulfilled that well so far this year. However, roughly 17 billion dollars in additional agricultural purchases remain behind the expected pace, and the administration is urging faster action.
