Arkansas Democrat Hallie Shoffner Would Defund ICE, Tells Government ‘Don’t Be an A**hole’ on Immigration

Listen to Article

Hallie Shoffner’s pledge to defund ICE and her casual dismissal of border enforcement as the government being an “a**hole” isn’t just another progressive talking point—it’s a direct threat to the rule of law that 2A advocates have long warned about. When a Senate candidate openly signals she wants to strip funding from the agency tasked with removing criminal aliens and securing the interior, she’s effectively endorsing sanctuary policies that let repeat offenders roam free until they commit the next headline-grabbing atrocity. The same politicians who claim “assault weapons” are the problem are the first to neuter the very federal presence that keeps violent non-citizens from turning American streets into their personal hunting grounds.

For gun owners, this isn’t abstract policy theater. Every time ICE is hamstrung, the downstream effect is more illegal firearms in the hands of people who shouldn’t be here in the first place—cartel smugglers, MS-13 members, and fentanyl traffickers who already treat our southern border like an open spigot. Shoffner’s rhetoric plays into the same anti-enforcement coalition that simultaneously pushes magazine bans, red-flag laws, and universal background checks while pretending the resulting crime wave has nothing to do with policy choices. The 2A community has watched this bait-and-switch for years: weaken immigration enforcement, flood cities with unvetted populations, then blame lawfully owned firearms when the predictable violence spikes.

If Arkansas voters send Shoffner to the Senate, they’ll be handing a vote to the same crowd that wants to disarm citizens while refusing to disarm the border. Tom Cotton’s record of treating immigration enforcement as national security rather than a social-justice hobby makes the contrast crystal clear. The lesson for pro-2A voters is simple—elections that look like they’re only about ICE funding are actually about whether the Second Amendment will still mean anything once the people charged with keeping violent foreigners out have been told to stand down.
