Attorney General Todd Blanche said on Fox News Sunday that reports of armed federal personnel overseeing the midterm elections are untrue. He noted that the Justice Department has observed every election for decades and that the present administration is continuing that longstanding practice to enforce federal law.
Officials hope to deploy more than a thousand volunteers in every state, not only those controlled by Republicans or Democrats, so that voting proceeds legally and fairly. Blanche said these workers are election monitors of the kind used in every prior cycle.
When host Shannon Bream asked whether the armed-agent allegation was accurate, Blanche replied that it was not.
