Actress Selma Blair told an Anti-Defamation League gathering at The Jewish Museum last week that she lost professional backing after a February 2024 Instagram remark aimed at Representatives Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib, who had opposed a bill blocking U.S. entry for people linked to the October 7 attack on Israel.

Commercial partners ended ties within a day, she said, and years-old collaborations plus her agency, lawyer, publicist, book representatives, and social media manager all departed, with outreach going unanswered. Blair added that she has formed a smaller new group of colleagues, stands by an earlier apology, and kept the original post visible because it was not the main issue.

The episode frightened her teenage son after her multiple sclerosis recovery that included chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, she said, noting that childhood years cannot be recovered even if work returns.
