Acosta: Trump Sees Himself as All-Powerful Mao, Caesar, Napoleon

Listen to Article

Jim Acosta’s latest meltdown on MSNBC, likening President Trump to Mao, Caesar, and Napoleon, is the kind of hyperbolic theater that 2A advocates have learned to treat as background noise rather than serious analysis. The former CNN anchor’s claim that Trump sees himself as an all-powerful dictator ignores the fact that the only “emperor-like” moves Trump made during his first term were appointing originalist judges who later struck down magazine bans and braced the Second Amendment against Biden-era overreach. If anything, the real authoritarian impulse on display is the media’s reflexive urge to equate any pro-Second-Amendment policy with tyranny while ignoring actual gun-grab attempts from the other side of the aisle.

What Acosta and his network miss is that the American people already rejected this emperor narrative at the ballot box, and the 2A community has the receipts: record NFA registrations, surging gun sales, and state-level constitutional carry laws that expanded under Trump’s watch. Painting a president who championed “shall not be infringed” as a modern Napoleon only cheapens the historical figures Acosta invokes and reveals the deeper strategy—convince the public that defending the right to keep and bear arms is somehow un-American. For gun owners, the takeaway is simple: every time legacy media reaches for the dictator card, it’s usually because real power is slipping back into the hands of citizens rather than bureaucrats.
