That transactional mindset is the same one that fuels every gun-control scheme: treat people as demographic blocs whose rights can be bartered away in exchange for political favors or government checks. When a sitting lawmaker frames voting as a cash transaction, she signals that constitutional protections—including the Second Amendment—are equally negotiable if the price is right.

The 2A community has watched this pattern for decades. Every time politicians promise targeted payouts, expanded welfare, or race-based preferences, they simultaneously push measures that disarm law-abiding citizens in the very neighborhoods those programs claim to help. Jones’s demand exposes the cynicism: if votes must be purchased, then the people being bought are presumed incapable of valuing their own self-defense rights without financial inducement.
