Police in Georgia traced missing campaign signs for House candidate Stephen Acorn to a private residence after the signs had been fitted with AirTags. Officers recovered the signs from household trash and spoke with the occupant on body-worn camera.

The home belongs to Spencer Garrard, a retired Columbus State University professor, and his wife, who serves as a pastor. Under Georgia law, campaign signs remain a candidate’s property, and removing them without permission is treated as misdemeanor theft.

The tracking devices led investigators directly to that address during the election season.
